EXODUS 20:4-6

4 “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth;
5 you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me,
6 but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.

EXODUS 34:12-17

12 “Take heed to yourself, lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land where you are going, lest it be a snare in your midst.
13 “But you shall destroy their altars, break their sacred pillars, and cut down their wooden images
14 ‘for you shall worship no other god, for the LORD, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God),
15 “lest you make a covenant with the inhabitants of the land, and they play the harlot with their gods and make sacrifice to their gods, and one of them invites you and you eat of his sacrifice,
16 “and you take of his daughters for your sons, and his daughters play the harlot with their gods and make your sons play the harlot with their gods.
17 “You shall make no molded gods for yourselves.

DEUTERONOMY 4:19

19 “… take heed, lest you lift your eyes to heaven, and when you see the sun, the moon, and the stars, all the host of heaven, you feel driven to worship them and serve them, which the LORD your God has given to all the peoples under the whole heaven as a heritage.

JOB 31:26-28

26 If I have observed the sun when it shines, or the moon moving in brightness,
27 So that my heart has been secretly enticed, and my mouth has kissed my hand;
28 This also would be an iniquity worthy of judgment, for I would have denied God who is above.

DANIEL 5:23

23 …you have praised the gods of silver and gold, bronze and iron, wood and stone, which do not see or hear or know; and the God who holds your breath in His hand and owns all your ways, you have not glorified.

ISAIAH 2:5-18

5 O house of Jacob, come and let us walk in the light of the LORD.
6 For You have forsaken Your people, the house of Jacob, because they are filled with eastern ways; they are soothsayers like the Philistines, and they are pleased with the children of foreigners.
7 Their land is also full of silver and gold, and there is no end to their treasures; their land is also full of horses, and there is no end to their chariots.
8 Their land is also full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made.
9 People bow down, and each man humbles himself; therefore do not forgive them.
10 Enter into the rock, and hide in the dust, from the terror of the LORD and the glory of His majesty.
11 The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the LORD alone shall be exalted in that day.
12 For the day of the LORD of hosts shall come upon everything proud and lofty, upon everything lifted up– and it shall be brought low–
13 Upon all the cedars of Lebanon that are high and lifted up, and upon all the oaks of Bashan;
14 Upon all the high mountains, and upon all the hills that are lifted up;
15 Upon every high tower, and upon every fortified wall;
16 Upon all the ships of Tarshish, and upon all the beautiful sloops.
17 The loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be brought low; the LORD alone will be exalted in that day,
18 But the idols He shall utterly abolish.

DEUTERONOMY 12:2-4

2 “You shall utterly destroy all the places where the nations which you shall dispossess served their gods, on the high mountains and on the hills and under every green tree.
3 “And you shall destroy their altars, break their sacred pillars, and burn their wooden images with fire; you shall cut down the carved images of their gods and destroy their names from that place.
4 “You shall not worship the LORD your God with such things.

PSALM 44:20-21

20 If we had forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to a foreign god,
21 Would not God search this out? For He knows the secrets of the heart.

JUDGES 10:14

14 “Go and cry out to the gods which you have chosen; let them deliver you in your time of distress.”

PSALM 106:19-20

19 They made a calf in Horeb, and worshiped the molded image.
20 Thus they changed their glory into the image of an ox that eats grass.

PSALM 96:1-7

1 Oh, sing to the LORD a new song! Sing to the LORD, all the earth.
2 Sing to the LORD, bless His name; proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day.
3 Declare His glory among the nations, his wonders among all peoples.
4 For the LORD is great and greatly to be praised; he is to be feared above all gods.
5 For all the gods of the peoples are idols, but the LORD made the heavens.
6 Honor and majesty are before Him; strength and beauty are in His sanctuary.
7 Give to the LORD, O families of the peoples, give to the LORD glory and strength.

PSALM 135:15-18

15 The idols of the nations are silver and gold, the work of men’s hands.
16 They have mouths, but they do not speak; eyes they have, but they do not see;
17 They have ears, but they do not hear; nor is there any breath in their mouths.
18 Those who make them are like them; so is everyone who trusts in them.

ISAIAH 2:2,5-18

2 Now it shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the LORD’S house shall be established…
13 Upon all the cedars of Lebanon that are high and lifted up, and upon all the oaks of Bashan;
14 Upon all the high mountains, and upon all the hills that are lifted up;
15 Upon every high tower, and upon every fortified wall;
16 Upon all the ships of Tarshish, and upon all the beautiful sloops.
17 The loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be brought low; the LORD alone will be exalted in that day,
18 But the idols He shall utterly abolish.

ISAIAH 41:28-29

28 …I looked, and there was no man; I looked among them, but there was no counselor, who, when I asked of them, could answer a word.
29 Indeed they are all worthless; their works are nothing; their molded images are wind and confusion.

ISAIAH 42:8

8 I am the LORD, that is My name; and My glory I will not give to another, nor My praise to graven images.

HABAKKUK 2:18-20

18 “What profit is the image, that its maker should carve it, the molded image, a teacher of lies, that the maker of its mold should trust in it, to make mute idols?
19 Woe to him who says to wood, ‘Awake!’ To silent stone, ‘Arise! It shall teach!’ Behold, it is overlaid with gold and silver, yet in it there is no breath at all.
20 But the LORD is in His holy temple. Let all the earth keep silence before Him.”

ISAIAH 46:3-10

3 “Listen to Me, O house of Jacob, and all the remnant of the house of Israel, who have been upheld by Me from birth, who have been carried from the womb:
4 Even to your old age, I am He, and even to gray hairs I will carry you! I have made, and I will bear; even I will carry, and will deliver you.
5 “To whom will you liken Me, and make Me equal and compare Me, that we should be alike?
6 They lavish gold out of the bag, and weigh silver on the scales; they hire a goldsmith, and he makes it a god; they prostrate themselves, yes, they worship.
7 They bear it on the shoulder, they carry it and set it in its place, and it stands; from its place it shall not move. Though one cries out to it, yet it cannot answer nor save him out of his trouble.
8 “Remember this, and show yourselves men; Recall to mind, O you transgressors.
9 Remember the former things of old, for I am God, and there is no other; I am God, and there is none like Me,
10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet done, saying, ‘My counsel shall stand, and I will do all My pleasure,’

ISAIAH 47:12-14

12 “Stand now with your enchantments and the multitude of your sorceries, in which you have labored from your youth– perhaps you will be able to profit, perhaps you will prevail.
13 You are wearied in the multitude of your counsels; let now the astrologers, the stargazers, and the monthly prognosticators stand up and save you from what shall come upon you.
14 Behold, they shall be as stubble, the fire shall burn them; they shall not deliver themselves from the power of the flame; …

ZECHARIAH 10:1-3

1 Ask the LORD for rain in the time of the latter rain. The LORD will make flashing clouds; he will give them showers of rain, grass in the field for everyone.
2 For the idols speak delusion; the diviners envision lies, and tell false dreams; they comfort in vain. Therefore the people wend their way like sheep; they are in trouble because there is no shepherd.
3 “My anger is kindled against the shepherds, and I will punish the goatherds. For the LORD of hosts will visit His flock, the house of Judah…

ACTS 17:16-32

16 …while Paul waited for them at Athens, his spirit was provoked within him when he saw that the city was given over to idols.
17 Therefore he reasoned in the synagogue with the Jews and with the Gentile worshipers, and in the marketplace daily with those who happened to be there.
18 Then certain Epicurean and Stoic philosophers encountered him. And some said, “What does this babbler want to say?” Others said, “He seems to be a proclaimer of foreign gods,” because he preached to them Jesus and the resurrection.
19 And they took him and brought him to the Areopagus, saying, “May we know what this new doctrine is of which you speak?
20 “For you are bringing some strange things to our ears. Therefore we want to know what these things mean.”
21 For all the Athenians and the foreigners who were there spent their time in nothing else but either to tell or to hear some new thing.
22 Then Paul stood in the midst of the Areopagus and said, “Men of Athens, I perceive that in all things you are very religious;
23 “for as I was passing through and considering the objects of your worship, I even found an altar with this inscription: TO THE UNKNOWN GOD. Therefore, the One whom you worship without knowing, Him I proclaim to you:
24 “God, who made the world and everything in it, since He is Lord of heaven and earth, does not dwell in temples made with hands.
25 “Nor is He worshiped with men’s hands, as though He needed anything, since He gives to all life, breath, and all things.
26 “And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings,
27 “so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us;
28 “for in Him we live and move and have our being, as also some of your own poets have said, ‘For we are also His offspring.’
29 “Therefore, since we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Divine Nature is like gold or silver or stone, something shaped by art and man’s devising.
30 “Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent,
31 “because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.”
32 And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked, while others said, “We will hear you again on this matter.”

ACTS 19:24-28

24 … a certain man named Demetrius, a silversmith, who made silver shrines of Diana, brought no small profit to the craftsmen.
25 He called them together with the workers of similar occupation, and said: “Men, you know that we have our prosperity by this trade.
26 “Moreover you see and hear that not only at Ephesus, but throughout almost all Asia, this Paul has persuaded and turned away many people, saying that they are not gods which are made with hands.
27 “So not only is this trade of ours in danger of falling into disrepute, but also the temple of the great goddess Diana may be despised and her magnificence destroyed, whom all Asia and the world worship.”
28 And when they heard this, they were full of wrath and cried out, saying, “Great is Diana of the Ephesians!”

JONAH 2:8

8 “Those who regard worthless idols forsake their own Mercy.

JUDGES 10:13-14

13 “… you have forsaken Me and served other gods…
14 “Go and cry out to the gods which you have chosen; let them deliver you in your time of distress.”

1 CORINTHIANS 8:1-13

1 Now concerning things offered to idols: We know that we all have knowledge. Knowledge puffs up, but love edifies.
2 And if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know.
3 But if anyone loves God, this one is known by Him.
4 Therefore concerning the eating of things offered to idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God but one.
5 For even if there are so-called gods, whether in heaven or on earth (as there are many gods and many lords),
6 yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live.
7 However, there is not in everyone that knowledge; for some, with consciousness of the idol, until now eat it as a thing offered to an idol; and their conscience, being weak, is defiled.
8 But food does not commend us to God; for neither if we eat are we the better, nor if we do not eat are we the worse.
9 But beware lest somehow this liberty of yours become a stumbling block to those who are weak.
10 For if anyone sees you who have knowledge eating in an idol’s temple, will not the conscience of him who is weak be emboldened to eat those things offered to idols?
11 And because of your knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died?
12 But when you thus sin against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ.
13 Therefore, if food makes my brother stumble, I will never again eat meat, lest I make my brother stumble.

HEBREWS 13:9

9 Do not be carried about with various and strange doctrines…

ROMANS 1:20-25

20 For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse,
21 because, although they knew God, they did not glorify Him as God, nor were thankful, but became futile in their thoughts, and their foolish hearts were darkened.
22 Professing to be wise, they became fools,
23 and changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image made like corruptible man– and birds and four-footed animals and creeping things.
24 Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves,
25 who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen.
