Father, as we seek to be like Jesus, we find we must know more and more of His words, His instruction and His desire for us. We seek His righteousness that our spirit might be revived by His Spirit. You have taught us that hearts need to be changed for renewal to be real. Lead us away from our instinctive, self serving desires, into a concern for serving You and others.
How much of God’s word is hidden in your heart (and does it matter)?
Father, Our hearts rejoice when we know we are doing Your will and being perfectly obedient. On the other hand, when we disobey and turn from Your word and counsel we feel a burden that can only be relieved by confession and repentance. There is no teaching as rich and fruitful as Your word.
Sometimes I feel so impotent…does God care?
When it seems that our soul is melting with heaviness we can become very discouraged and depressed. Help us know that the difficulties of life are so very brief, though very real, and that we are able to overcome these ill feelings in Your strength, not ours.
If not God, who is it that you trust?
We know Father that we can not have it both ways, our worthiness, our wisdom, our independent achievements and at the same time Your righteousness. We confess that our lower nature doggedly pursues us. It is Your perfection in us that we seek.
God’s thoughts toward you exceed number!
Father, as we cry out to You, we sometimes feel there is no way that we are able to be heard. You have just told us that Your thoughts toward us are more than can be numbered. Father, we are heard and You are miraculously present.
What was it that made Jesus angry?
Jesus, very seldom did You show anger outwardly. Here You teach us a great deal about what a church should not be. It is not a place where the focus is on raising money, advancing personal interests, or a place where social relationships rise above our purpose in being there.
Thank you Billy… a great warrior of God
How can we know what You expect? You teach us every day to look to Your word for guidance and wisdom. Everything seems transitional as we observe the changing values of the world. Thank You, Father, for being our rock, our never changing anchor.
Want a better view? Stand upon the Rock!
You are the Rock, our Redeemer and You lift us to a higher place. Father, we await Your intervention, that moment when we will stand in Your Holy presence.
Curse God; praise God, curse man, praise God…What?
Father, As we try to be a light in the darkness, we sometimes feel rejected, criticized, taunted and teased. Give us Your strength in these moments and help us be patient and kind rather than angry and judgmental.
God, how could you possible notice me?
Father, as we look upon the beauty of Your creation, we are overwhelmed at the breadth and depth of the universe and both humbled and overjoyed as we see our children, created in Your image, born. The purity of a child is a representation of Your perfect will for us. Give us the faith and purity of a child as we seek to be as You Jesus.
